Fair Play & Safety
Is PoGoCoach Safe to Use?
Yes. PoGoCoach is a coaching website that runs outside the game. It never connects to, logs into, controls or modifies Pokémon GO — it only reads the battle screen with a camera or screen share and does the math for you.
What PoGoCoach never does
These are hard limits in how PoGoCoach is built — not settings, and not something that can be turned on:
- Never connect to Pokémon GO or Niantic's or Scopely's servers
- Never log into a Pokémon GO account
- Never access the game's memory or network traffic
- Never control, automate or modify the game in any way
- Never place an overlay on the device running Pokémon GO
How PoGoCoach actually works
It runs on a separate device
PoGoCoach is a website you open on a second device — a laptop, tablet or another phone — placed next to the phone running Pokémon GO. It never runs inside the game.
It only reads what you can see yourself
The camera or screen scan looks at the same battle screen you are looking at, for example the opponent's name. Nothing more. Everything it recognizes is information already visible to you.
It only does the math
Recommendations are calculated in your browser from publicly available battle data and standard damage formulas. PoGoCoach suggests; you still make every tap in the game.
In short: it works like a friend standing behind you, reading the same screen and whispering advice — except the friend has every matchup and move stat memorized.
Your account and your data
- No Pokémon GO login is ever requested, and there is no way to connect PoGoCoach to your account.
- Camera and screen recognition run locally in your browser — frames are not uploaded or stored by PoGoCoach.
- Your saved team stays in your own browser. It is not shared with other users.
Could my account get banned?
PoGoCoach does not interact with Pokémon GO in any way, so using it is like having a coach next to you at the table. It cannot read your account, and it does not play the game for you.
That said, we want to be honest rather than make promises on Niantic's or Scopely's behalf: their stance on external devices and coaching tools can change, and tournament organizers set their own rules. You are always responsible for following the official Pokémon GO Terms of Service and any event rules. See our Terms of Use.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to log in with my Pokémon GO account?
No. PoGoCoach never asks for your Pokémon GO credentials and there is no way to connect it to your account.
Does PoGoCoach see my account or my Pokémon collection?
No. It sees only the part of the battle screen you point it at, such as the opponent's name. Your account, collection and friend list are never accessible to PoGoCoach.
Do I need to install an app?
No. PoGoCoach is a website that runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet or desktop.
Are my camera frames or screenshots uploaded anywhere?
No. Camera and screen recognition runs locally in your browser. Your frames are not uploaded or stored by PoGoCoach.
Can I use PoGoCoach in tournaments?
Rules on external devices and coaching vary between organizers. Check your event's rules before using any coaching tool in competitive play.
